Shafik Sachedina Role In Healthcare & At The Institute of Ismaili Studies Background

Dr. Shafik Sachedina comes from Dar Es Salaam, in Tanzania where he was born. For graduated from the Guy Medical Hospital and the Dental School at the University of London in 1975. He is practicing dental surgeon.

Role at the Institute of Ismaili Studies
Aga Khan formed the Institute of Ismaili Studies in 1977. The institute holds Islamic ideas from around the world. Dr. Shafik works with the institute to promote peace among Muslim. Currently, he heads the Department of Jamati Relations in the institute. Shafik coordinates facets of the department and the institute. The Institute of Ismaili Studies creates awareness about the Islamic religion as well as culture throughout the world using publications and other initiatives. Dr. Shafik coordinates activities of 16 branches in the Institute. In addition to coordination, he ensures smooth interaction with programs of Aga Khan development with other institutions. He also interacts with programs from Aga Khan network in Central Asia.

The institute also carries other roles in its goal to promote Muslim culture such publication of academic reports on Education and Muslim knowledge. It has Ismaili programs and educational programs, which outlines Muslim studies from an early age to graduate levels.

In addition to heading the Ismaili studies, he is also a member of the Board of Governors in the institute. He is responsible for decision making especially on critical matters, which affect the group. Dr. Sachedina is a member of Aga Khan Development committee. The committee ensures Muslims receive humanitarian assistance during natural and other disasters.

Role at Sussex Healthcare
As a surgeon and dentist, Dr. Sachedina expanded his role in healthcare and home care services. He is an owner and the founder of the Sussex Healthcare. Sussex is the headquarters of the facility. Sussex Healthcare aims to provide quality healthcare to people with mental disorders and the support to seniors. The facility offers affordable care to aged, people with brain injuries or suffering from conditions such as dementia.

The under the leadership of Sachedina, the facility aims to provide quality care. It includes nursing and high-quality residential care to patients suffering from neurological conditions. The company offers not only educational programs but also customized therapies to the patients. Services include reflexology, physiotherapies, and occupational therapy. In addition, the facilities ensure 24 hours 7 days nursing support to the patients.

D.Shafik is a philanthropist. He has volunteered in many programs to support Ismaili communities.
