An Overview of Lawrence Bender’s Work in the Film Industry

Lawrence Bender is a very well-known American film producer. He has had an illustrious career that continues to rise. His career includes a plethora of awards, with the most prestigious being three different Academy Awards. Each of those awards was given to a film he producers in the category of Best Picture. Lawrence Bender was born in the Bronx in 1957. He has been an active member of the film production community since the late 1980s. He attended the University of Maine, where he had initially planned on going into the field of civil engineering before developing a love for the arts and, eventually, a strong passion for film.

Among the many films he has work on include the production of Reservoir Dogs in 1992. This film was his firm major smash his and brought him immediate notoriety within the film community. He has always produced incredible films such including The Hateful Eight, Death Proof, the Kill Bill series and Django Unchained. In addition to those smash, box office hits, he has also produced several successful documentaries. These documentaries include An Inconvenient Truth, which has been hailed as one of the best documentaries of this generation. The film was produced by Lawrence Bender in 2006.

One of my personal favorite movies that Lawrence Bender produced is the famed, classic Good Will Hunting. The movie was produced in 1997 and starred an A-List of actors. This includes Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Robin Williams and Minnie Driver. The film was actually co-written by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and follows Matt Damon’s character, who is a blue collar laborer who is is secretly a genius with an incredible IQ. After an assault conviction, Damon’s character ends up working with Williams’ character, who is a therapist and mathematician.

The movie goes on to follow Damon’s character as he learned his true potential underneath the wing of Robin Williams’ character. The film brought in over $2 billion and was eventually named to the elusive Hollywood Reports Best Movies List 2014, where it came in as number 53 on the 2014 list.
